Outstanding tour of coffee history and its impact on Costa Rica's economy. Very educational. Students were in awe of the butterfly garden too. Unfortunately, rain shortened our visit. Wonderful coffee tasting and shop. Lunch was delicious
Nice Coffee Tour

I just did the coffee tour, not the butterfly garden. It was a pleasant tour with an excellent guide. They show you the entire coffee process from growing on the plant to the finished product. Coffee samples were on hand both before and after the guided tour (in the back of the gift shop) so you will know the taste of the specific type of coffee you can buy if you wish. The facility and grounds (no pun intended) were very nice and clean.

The tour was very informative. We got to taste samples of all the coffees. The showed how the old coffee mill worked by using water.
Magical experience with morpho butterflies!

This was our second time visiting Doka; we brought our 3 teenage kids after visiting sans kids 10 years ago, and we all found the historic, sustainable mill fascinating. It was so refreshing to see a company that is free of fossil fuel dependence, and respectful of the water supply. A huge bonus was the butterfly habitat! A blue morpho landed right on my family members!
Great tour, funny guide, but pricy lunch

Great tour over the coffee plantation! We had a lovely and funny guide who told the stories about the plantation in a clear and passionate way with jokes in between. It was fascinating to see the process of coffee production from beginning to end chronologically. Actually the only downside was the price of the food. The lunch was buffet style, but in the end you were only allowed to walk to the buffet one time. Although the quality of the food was good, we found this a little strange. Nonetheless, we would definitely recommend this tour!
