Get to know one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica, the Poás Volcano with 2,708 m high, which is located just a few minutes from the city of San José, where we pick you up directly where you can find lodged to take you to see the Great Colossus On the way to the Volcano you will be able to delight in the beautiful views of the Milk, Strawberry and ornamental plants farms as well as the large coffee plantations which stand out for the large amount observed on the way, once we arrive at the Volcano. We will take you to enjoy a delicious typical Lunch which is included in the tour. Once we are satisfied we will go to La Peace Waterfalls where you will be amazed with the immense this waterfall that this area gives us.

Our day was perfect. The weather completely cooperated. The driver was very nice and accommodating. He gave us as much time as we needed at each location.

Perfect tour with a more perfect guide

My cousin and I recently had a short stay in San Jose, We chose this tour and had a MARVELOUS experience with our guide Giovanni. He arrived on time to pick us up from our hotel. From the hotel we headed up to the Volcano- before reaching our destination we stopped at this beautiful coffee shop that had some of the BEST coffee I've ever drank! The cafe overlooked a magnificent coffee farm. Next we stopped at La Paz waterfall and then onto Volcan Paos- the scenes were SPECTACULAR. Giovanni was the PERFECT tour guide! He was extremely personable and I felt like everyone knew him and the tour was very personal and friendly...Giovanni even got the owner Mariella of a local restaurant to create a beautiful fruit boquet for my cousin celebrating her birthday- it was TRULY a perfect day with a perfect guide!! Some things to note...the tour was filled with activity- there was minimal walking and was good for those that are in good shape but you dont need to be super fit- the roads are narrow and EVERYONE in San Jose drives agressively.

Absolutely Fantastic!

Our tour guide, Arturo, was awesome. Very friendly, knowledgable and spoke english well. Our first stop was the Doka Coffee Estate (Café Tres Generaciones). Great coffee and a beautiful farm. Our driver taught us to eat the sweet pulp inside the coffee berry. A cool experience. They sell peaberry coffee beans (whole beans instead of halves) which they claim to be superior. This is highly debatable. There is a lot more labor involved in hand picking these beans and some say they aren't worth it. Of course, it's completely subjective. (I digress, just FYI) Next stop - a beautiful, roadside waterfall. Lunch was included at a Soda (local term for café or quick food restaurant). We were extremely lucky to have a clear view of the Poas volcano. We actually arrived 20 minutes early, thank God. Because within 5-10 minutes of our arrival, the entire area was covered in thick clouds. We didn't know, but it's apparently rare to get a clear view. Then, off to our Starbucks farm tour. Melé was our guide. She was extremely informative. We learned a lot about growing, harvesting and roasting coffee. We were able to get up close with the trees, pick some berries and turn some beans as they dried. At the end we had a coffee tasting. Delicious and educational. As a note, this Starbucks farm is mostly for research. They aren't large enough to supply any of their stores with coffee. They do roast the coffee they grow and it is only available on the farm. Although it was a very full day there were alternating periods of walking and sitting/riding. Highly recommended!

Cloudy Day with Quick Thinking

It was a cloudy day at Volcan Poas so we could not see a thing. My tour guide took me to a waterfall which was beautiful. The tour of The Starbucks Farm is fabulous. Definitely worth it--very informative and gorgeous view.
