Overview

The aim of this tour is to reveal more about Costarican culture and food through a relaxed walk in the town of Santa Ana. We will start with one of the best coffees you can have in this country. As we sip our coffee, we will talk about the historical importance of coffee and how it built this country. Afterwards, we will stop for a delicious homemade empanada, before heading to our local "fruteria" (fruit shop) for a smoothie. Our next stop will be a local shop dedicated to chocolate and cocoa... Who does not like chocolate? We will learn how it is produced and we will enjoy a few bites. Our tour will then take us to a local cheese shop and as we make it there we will touch on some topics such as education, religion, not having an army and energy generation. Back to cheese, Costa Rica keeps it simple, fresh white cheeses that go well in many things and that are part of many local dishes. We will end the tour with lunch at a Caribbean place (together with some more stories)!

Local Vibes is Good Vibes

I am fascinated with local life and culture, away from the touristy stuff, guided by sometime who lives there. Ricardo is a great guide and very knowledgeable, and applaud the support of local businesses. I particularly enjoyed Barbara's Empanadas and Maxi's, the Caribbean place.
The absolute best walking tour in the San Jose area!

This is a fantastic tour in a seemingly quiet village just outside of the main city district. A quick taxi drive to Santa Ana from the city center will drop you off in a quaint little area with lots of sights and services to offer anyone. Ricardo is a very experienced tour guide with international experience in tourism and is good at what he does. This tour is suitable for one person or a large group including families with children. Santa Ana has something for everyone to enjoy. Children can play in the park while the parents enjoy the great selection of tasty bites to eat along your journey through this village. You will enjoy organic locally grown farm to cup coffee and chocolate locally sourced and produced by the most passionate chocolate creator I have ever met in my life. You will taste Costa Rican cheeses and enjoy a fruit smoothly made to order from any of the available fresh fruit at the market. This tour is a must do if you are in the San Jose area and it is only 3 hours long even though I could have spent the entire day in Santa Ana. Thank you Ricardo and all the merchants for a wonderful experience I will defiantly bring my friends here in the future.
