Our tour guide Carlile (not sure about spelling) was awesome! He went above and beyond to make our tour the best. He helped in making sure our picky eater had something to eat. He brought us to Hacienda Alsacia (Starbucks) to see the beautiful views. Took pictures of our group for us so everyone could be in photograph. He was great at explaining our tours. Worked with us on when to eat lunch. Made stops for the smokers. He was as entertaining on the ride as he was for the tour.AWESOME!!!

The views on the rim of Volcano Poas was amazing. In the moment as i arrived the clouds are gone. The Colibri Garden on the La Paz Waterfall was like a Paradies.
Best of the best

Combo tour

Very professional fun and exciting Combo Tour. Pickup on time, and pack your patience as the San Jose traffic is challenging. First stop is the historic Doka Estate for breakfast. Next you tour the coffee plantation from start to finish. Then it’s off to Poas for peak into the crater if a volcano. After the volcano, it’s off to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. This is the highlight of tour, as the pack so much visual viewing it’s breathtaking. A buffet lunch is also served at Peace Lodge. Thank you tour guide Martin and tour representative Roy for all your help. This tour is considered moderate in terms of exercise. Bring a cheap disposable rain poncho, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting wet. It’s a long long tour, but combines three of the best tours into one. Highly recommend.

Erik was an excellent tour guide. It was a fun-filled and jam packed experience. Even when the weather was quite foggy, We were able to see the Poas Volcano and enjoyed every bit of the hike. The coffee tour was great too. We learnt a lot about different types of coffees and what was the coffee picking process. The breakfast and lunch was fantastic so was the tour of the La Paz gardens and the waterfall.
Have fun eith Natural park, Volcano, la paz waterfall & gardens

One never quite knows what to expect from yours, especially those packed with options.

From start to finish this one lasted 12 hours. We walked @ five miles and climbed up and down 25 flights of steps (according to my watch).

Picked up at my hotel on time. Nice clean bus with AC, but such little leg room that it actually hurt. If you are taller than 5’ 7” choose your seat wisely. As with most tours we knocked around the city picking people up for another 30 minutes.

San Jose is very congested, so it took a while to get out of the city. Once out, the scenery is beautiful.

First stop Doka. Beautifully landscaped, but no time to explore. We had breakfast (eggs, rice and beans, fruit, plantains) and coffee then did a learning “tour”. Our guide Adrian was very knowledgeable and passionate so though I had little interest in this part of the trip, he made it worth my while. I actually bought coffee for friends.

Next stop was Poas. Be prepared for the altitude difference. It took me a while to get used to it. In total I think I walked @ 2 miles (visited both lakes). We had great weather so were able to see the first lake. The second was completely blurred by clouds. Walking to the second lake was an effort for me. This was a quick in/out. Mostly photo opportunity.

Next stop was a little gift shop for strawberries and wine. Lots of local snack options and many trinkets. Get water if you don’t have any. We waited here way too long for an addition of three people to the tour.

From the shop we headed to La Paz. This was a three-part adventure. First an animal reserve and amazing gardens. The animal parts always make me a little sad. Cages are not places for this gorgeous creatures. There was also a butterfly garden (I only saw 5 types of butterflies- care as they are easy to step on) and a small hummingbird garden that was kind of fun. They had a small snake exhibit and maybe three frogs?

Lunch was a decent buffet.

The highlight of this trip is the waterfalls. Amazing. Lots of walking and lots of steps. I would have loved to just sit and listen to the water rushing, but at this point (4:30pm) we were out of time and had to keep moving. If you are not a Walker or don’t like steps, this is not for you.

We were done shortly after 5:00. Again - get water in the gift shop if you are out. The drive back is another 90 minutes.

I highly recommend this company for the tour. I think the description needs to be upgraded. Would be great if there was an option without the coffee farm. It’s a long day and I would have preferred to use my time and energy at Poas and La Paz.
