This enchanted and secluded park is the save heaven of many different species of while life not only native of Costa Rica, but to the Americas. Travelling through the waters of the hidden lagoons and canals as the flowering vine covered trees blend in with their own water reflection we will have the unique experience of observing as close as possible several species of flora and fauna. It is easy to observe several species of crocodiles, toucan, monkeys, slots, macaws, iguanas and some others. Among such species we find the majestic green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) which has in Tortuguero 21 miles of beach to nest in (July to October); the largest nesting site of the western hemisphere. There are also abundant birds, such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and aninghas, as well as crocodiles, turtles and countless colorful butterflies, including blue morpho. At noon enjoy a hearty typical buffet lunch to please the hungriest of appetites. After lunch we will take a walk through the Tortuguero Village where we will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the town and its inhabitants. Great way to see nature comfortably
Jackalie B, 08-09-2022
It takes about 3 hours to get to the park from San Jose, but it's definitely worth the time. Once there you spend hours floating the canals, enjoying the flora, and spotting birds and animals. The walks to the peak and in the villages just added to the pleasure. Note that there are 433 steps to climb to the view, but it's all paved and maintained and you can take your time.
Great day trip with superb guide and delicious food

We had booked this as a group tour but in the end the two of us had a private good. The guide arrived on time to collect us and was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. On the boat tour our guide / boat driver spotted some animals we would definitely not have seen on our own. We got a bit unlucky with the weather so unfortunately we didnt see any monkeys as it was constantly raining but that just happens when you travel in the summer months.
The lunch provided was excellent and a good vegetarian option was served as well. Would definitely recommend this trip.
Incredibly FUN

Our experience was awesome. Ronny was our guide and he was both incredibly informed AND enormously entertaining! He really bonded our group quickly. We toured with a nice couple from Belgium and a mother and her 2 kids from Mexico City. Our group was so much fun, it was a little sad saying goodbye to everyone. One thing I'd remind everyone is to bring mosquito repellent. AND ASK FOR RONNY IF POSSIBLE.
Very knowledgable guide...

Very knowledgable guide who really made an effort to find animal both on the beautiful canal tour and at the rainforest walk.
Such a great day!

Ronny was the greatest guide ever. Coming during the off season provided us with as about as personalized experience as you can probably get. We saw a ton of wildlife and beautiful views. It was a fantastic day.
An amazing experience!!

Our guide was Arturo , and he made our whole experience unforgettable! From the pick up at 6:00am and the drop off at 17:00. We saw a lot of animals in the cabals , had a great time in town, and saw the national park from the top - which is breathtaking.
It is pricy from San Jose as a day trip, but if you don't have time to visit the Caribbean side, it is totally worth it !
Motion sickness
atlfergusons, 15-04-2022
We saw 3 wild sloths on our way, Carlos and Giovanni stopped the van on the road for us to take pictures. Bring money for bathroom breaks. Food and drinks were good. Bring motion sickness medicines because the van ride round trip is life threatening, Carlos was passING cars on the shoulder, across double lines, and played with the radio while driving. I will say it was a good time and I'm glad we went, but that bucket list has been checked off.
