What To Expect
A day filled with the aroma of coffee will be our reward as we visit the largest coffee plantation in Costa Rica, known as the Hacienda Doka estate, located on the slopes of the Poas Volcano.
Visiting this Doka coffee plantation will allow you to learn everything about the process and good practices related to this crop, as well as on our tour of the coffee farm we will observe its machinery and discover the step by step of seed germination for the first cultivation of the plants, the development process of the plant and up to the point of harvesting the mature grain, we will also learn about the history of the farm, the production and varieties of coffee plants, the geography of the area and the traditional way of cultivating the coffee bean, it is very important to note that being in the natural and cultural environment of this coffee plantation will make you want to enjoy an exquisite cup of coffee while having an exquisite typical Costa Rican breakfast.

Poas Volcano National Park
We will go to the beautiful POAS VOLCANO, whose main attraction is that it can be accessed to the edge of it. Not only does it have one of the largest craters in the world, but it is located in the mountainous forests of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range and we will be able to learn from the gas emanations, ecosystem and vegetation. On the way to the Volcano you will be able to notice its different microclimates and the great diversity of agriculture, we will be able to observe a great variety of plantations and cattle farms at the same time that we will have a spectacular view of the Central Valley. And the lagoon of its crater will leave us in love with the desire to return.
The complete stay in the Poas Volcano National Park will be approximately 50 minutes which are distributed in: 10 minutes in the initial talk, and information, 10 minutes walk to the viewpoint of the Volcano crater, 20 minutes of fixed permanence in the viewpoint and another 10 minutes on the way back to the transport parking lot.

We took this tour and it was incredible! Our tour guide, Will, was so nice and well informed. He taught us a lot, starting with the coffee plantation, and all the way to the animals in La Paz Waterfall Gardens. We were only 3 people which made it so personable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour! It is definitely worth the price!

Great tour guide (George) who was thorough, sincere and flexible. Heavy city traffic can easily extend tour by 1-2 hours. Easy pickup process from hotel - no shenanigans or tardiness. The sites were excellent. Doka Coffee Tour was not crowded at all (off season) and breakfast (and coffee) was included. Poas Volcano gets crowded quick with a 20 min time limit to view....clouds move in/out quick so it's all about timing. La Paz waterfall park was worth every cent...kind of a zoo/botanical gardens/waterfalls all-in-one, with a nice buffet lunch included.
Only downside -which has nothing to do with our guide - was (1) the vehicle they gave him had no working AC, and (2) I had another tour the next day with the same company that canceled, which kind of left me to improvise on short notice (immediate refund provided with no issues, though).

Great day in Costa Rica

We had a private tour with Jahan Sanchez in a comfortable air conditioned bus. The tour was not only beautiful and educational but Johan had a wealth of information about the volcano, the animals and the waterfalls. When we weren’t hiking and seeing the sites we were learning about Costa Rica’s economy, politics and life. Johan and Carlos the driver were great. I highly recommend this full day, active tour.

Hernan was a great guide. The Doka coffee plantation was interesting - breakfast was great. The Volcano was amazing as were the waterfalls and lunch - a great day out, with lots of walking

Great experience! our guide Charlton was excellent; arrived on time, smooth driver, very informative, friendly, and attentive. The tour was fun and allowed enough time to enjoy each step. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Costa Rica.

Totally worth it. Good variety of activities. Good opportunity to shop, hike, see lots of animals. Tour guide was great. The only slightly uncomfortable thing is that the van seating was tight but it's bearable.

The highlight was the crater of Poas Volcano, appearing when the clouds parted for a few seconds at a time. The many educational nature experiences at La Paz Waterfall Gardens were the best combination I know of at a single site, with the stairways down along the waterfalls unique in the country. The Doka Coffee Estate also was excellent, rounding out the variety that made the tour so worthwhile.
Our bilingual guide, Charleton, was superb in his knowledge to impart about what we were seeing, in his good cheer that kept us engaged, and his attentiveness to our individual needs.
My only objection was to the difficulty in finding out our pick-up point, since we were not staying at one of the hotels listed. The automated online forms kept asking me give my location, even after I entered the information multiple times. My phone calls to the number given online connected me with an unfriendly agent, who wouldn't respond either in Spanish or English when I asked about pick-up arrangements.
Our bilingual guide, Charleton, was superb in his knowledge to impart about what we were seeing, in his good cheer that kept us engaged, and his attentiveness to our individual needs.

Tour is a great way to quickly see three locations. Our driver picked us up on time and we had a very small group for our tour. While in the van, we were not able to hear our guide talk because of traffic and open windows. Once at our locations, our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Having set designated time limits at the locations allowed for us to see each long enough to experience them, and not waste time getting to the next destination.
