What To Expect
San Jose
This is a must-see on any trip to the capital of Costa Rica. Start the day with a pick-up service at approximately 8:00 a.m or 1:00 pm from your hotel in San José, Alajuela or Heredia. (This tour is available in the morning and in the afternoon) . From the comfort of the minivan, you will enjoy the panoramic views of San José. During the trip, your English speaking guide will inform you about the places you will see on the road, starting with the Costa Rican Art Museum in La Sabana. See the heart of the city center, The National Theater, University of Costa Rica, National Museum and the Arts and Crafts Market to buy souvenirs. After shopping, enjoy a lunch at a Typical Restaurant, with some cultural meals from Costa Rica. After your gastronomic experience, you can relax and enjoy the trip as you will be transported back to your hotel. If you choose the afternoon tour, lunch will be served at the beggining of the tour.

This tour was operated by Destiny Travel and guided by Señor Oscar. Oscar performed an excellent job as he provided me with both substantive and exciting information about the city, country, region, architectural, cultural, historical, sports and other aspects of life in Costa Rica. Oscar is a very experienced tourism specialist and is able to tune the tour according to the customer’s needs and interests — in my case I wanted to combine both guided ride and walking around historical/cultural places on my own and I got plenty of both. Also, I hoped to get a chance to see more art related places, and I was able to do that too. On top of it, Oscar was very attentive to my lunch tastes and preferences, and without expecting it I had a chance to choose from many tempting lunch options and select an exquisite traditional lunch. The tour was just half a day but very memorable and allowed me to discover many new and interesting places and things, while at the same time feeling like a welcomed friend. In the end, my tour guide and I agreed to watch the upcoming soccer home game (on live TV in my case) happening in San Jose and support Costa Rican team in its strife to get to the World Cup. The most amazing tour. Our tour guide Oscar was by far a 10 star tour guide. His passion for his country was so inspiring and his knowledge of Costa Rica and San Jose made the day we spent with him memories that will last a lifetime.
If you do not book with this tour company and with Oscar you will truly miss out on one of the best parts of Costa Rica. When I leave I will take back to the United States the memories of an amazing country and a new Costa Rican family friend.
